Bill Davis, a director for the Central Rural Foundation, and Randy Ethridge, a director of CoBank, presented Mrs. Walker with the keys.
The CRE Foundation, a board independent of Central Rural Electric Cooperative, administers a program called “Operation Round-Up.” The CRE Foundation makes grants available to individual projects within the CREC service area. The board recently approved $4,000 toward the purchase of the van which will be used primarily young women within the home to and from college or other vocational training.
CoBank is a wholesales banke located in Denver, Colorado which provides financing to cooperatives and agricultural businesses throughout the United States. CoBank is supported of projects such as the Maranatha Outreach which assist local entities in providing opportunities for leadership and development for America’s youth.
Maranatha Outreach Center located in Stroud is a homeless shelter for young women in crisis pregnancy. Maranatha serves women from many Oklahoma localities which find themselves pregnant and without a home. During 2007, Maranatha Outreach has provided a home for 14 different residents.
