Life Center gets new van with help from CREF

The Central Rural Electric Foundation donated $10,000 toward the purchase of a new van for the Life Adult Day Center in Stillwater.

Life Adult Day Center is a community-based program primarily designed to meet the needs of older adults with disabilities or special needs. Established in 1983, the Life Center provides a variety of health, social and related support services during daytime hours. The program also provides respite for caregivers, enabling them to attend chores, engage in leisure or occupational pursuits or get needed rest.

While ensuring safe, reliable and handicap accessible transportation for the Center’s older adults and adults with special needs, the van will provide access to community events, places of interest and health-related services.

The CRE Foundation operates from funds generated through CREC’s Operation Round Up® program which started last November. Eighty percent of CREC’s membership participate in the program that rounds up monthly electric bills to the next dollar to create a fund that will help community organizations and individuals.
